Finance Minister P.Chidambaram informed the Lok Sabha on Friday (23/11/2007) the the Sixth Central Pay Commission (CPC) is expected to give its report before 4th April 2008. Finance Minister said that while the specific issue of retirement age did not figure in the terms of the Pay Commission, the government, however, had forwarded references of the matter to Pay Commission for examination. Altlthough the Pay Commissionm, set up last year has not been asked to consider the issue of raising the retirement age from 60, the commission is assessing existing and future liabilities for government on pay and pensions over next 3 to 4 decades. To ensure that the state governments are able to take the impact of any wage revision, the Pay Commission has also sent a questionnaire seeking details on several counts.
by extending the retirrement age only the govt wil be benifitted by postponing the payment of retirement benifits but by doing so the down sizing will also be postponed
ReplyDeleteThe nature of works of the employees are not similar. Some employees has to work in the AC Chambers throughout the life whereas large No. of are working in the field without any protection. Their nature of lifestyles are also different. Therefore uniformly extension of retirement age will not be beneficial to the Government & for employees too.Government should see the factor of their working conditions too, while accepting the extension of retirement age.
ReplyDeleteextension of the retirement age can also creep stangnation in different levels. promotion avenues may be extended by 2 more years (if retirement age extended to 62) which may demotivate the government staff.
ReplyDeleteRetirement age increase is most hazardous to the country.
ReplyDeleteWhile young generation going to be old. Retirement age should be cut down to 55. Old man can't work as like young man. Memory power reduces, illness etc. problems. They should take rest.
But government is greeedy of vote bank. Also to face the sixth pay commssion recommendation, retirement benefits to be postponed.
But for country it is danzer, it is trecherous with young generation.
Even Infosys Chairman Narainmurthy gets retirement. But government is going to stupidity. Unemployed people are so much. But decision makers are IAS, who can sold India for there benefit.
Goverment should adopt any other different way like to disinvestment of PSUs, disinvestment of railways etc. So that citizens gets quality service as well as govenment can face the burden of sixth pay commission.
there should be no increase in the retirement age. By retiring, we ensure that dead-stock leaves the organisation and fresh-stock takes wings!!
ReplyDeleteincrease to 80 years .Only very few will get pension .
ReplyDeleteIf good new people are not joining you have no choice but the extend the services of good one till ....
ReplyDeleteThe Govt. should not raise the retirement age to 62 as we are hearing currently. This will demotivate staff and officer since all the promotions will be delayed. At the same time this will add to the problem of unemployment in the country.
ReplyDeleteNo point in raising the retirement age with the current umemployment scenario. Probably this is just another attempt by IAS lobby to hang around for a little more and enjoy the perks as they do it currently by getting all sorts of extensions.
ReplyDeleteStagnation , demotivation and inefficiency are few other reasons to resist this stupid view.
Ya I fully agree the views of Mr. Raghu
ReplyDeleteretirement age should not be extended. As per my knowledge retirement age of all central government employee will be 55 years is very genuine then young chap can get chance to join central government job, also change the retirement age of teaching staff from 65 years to 60 years and maintain equal rule. after 60 years no body can maintain their activeness.
ReplyDeleteDo not increase the Retirement age at least for another three months it will affect my wife's carreer growth
ReplyDeleteI have posted several blogs but you are not approving why!!!!
ReplyDeleteBe positive in approach !!!
Don't be suspecious ???
k CPC has nothing to do with extension of retirement age.It is the Government to propose & the parliament to decide.
ReplyDeleteI think the inflow (recruitment to govt. jobs) and outflow will never match in view of downsizing policies of the Govt. Hence, increase in retirement age will provide some time to adjust working with lesser number of employees. This apart extension of retirement age will give extended financial support to those family who are in the queue for Govt. jobs.
