More Army Officers wants to leave

According to the some reports in media, if recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission are not up to the expectations of the Officers in the Armed Forces, there will be a problem of shortage of officers and staff in all 3 Armed forces and to the security of the country. Thousands of officers in the forces are ready to apply to leave the service of the armed forces if salary is not raised up to satisfactory level.

According to the reports, high placed sources in the Army has said that in Army itself, around 1000 to1500 officers from the rank of Lt. Col to Col. level can resign. Some of the desperate officers are just waiting for the final report of Sixth Pay Commission only, so that they can decide. Army requires at least 46 thousand officers, where only 35 thousand are serving currently, so there is a shortage of 11 thousand officers. So if some of these officers, specially young and experienced officers, leave the forces then there will be a big blow to the army. It would have been more shortage if the recommendations of the Ajay Vikram Singh Committee would not have been accepted. Young Officers are more prone to resign and wants to leave.

The recommendation of the Sixth Pay Commission are being seen as "Time Bomb" in the forces, because if salary is increased up to the mark, then it is ok, otherwise there will be a rise in the resignations. This situation is same for Scientist and Technical manpower of the civil organisations also.

To deal with this situation, the resignations of the officers will be rejected as has happened in the Air Force. More than 250 pilot left Air Force in just one year, so now pilots are not allowed to leave. For the last 2-3 years, there is a spurt in the attrition rate in the Army. Those officers who think that there will not be much increase in salary by the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission or salary will not be increased up to their desired level, wants to leave Armed Force as of now so that if their resignation would be accepted. The number of officers who wants to leave army in the year 2006 rose to 811 in comparison to the year 2004 when 436 officers applied to leave.

It is the double standard of the Govt. policy which is forcing young and capable persons in uniform and it is being applied for others also. They are simply wasting the time for study as there will not be much impact to eliminate the shortcomings pf Govt. functioning mainly attributed due to political reasons as it happened in 5th pay commission. The result is that they are getting frustrated as there is no assurance coming from Govt. side. They want to pass the time till election as winning the election is more imp. then overall welfare of the country.

In Defence Origanisations like DGQA, the UPSC recruitees based on Engineering degree are getting salary of 16000/-. Unfortunately, the B.Com fresh candidate are given 20,000plus in MNC. All most, the government ruins the working sprit in the leading government department employees like from DRDO, DGQA, CSIR,.. etc..

The worst thing, the recent development is "People are not ready to give there girls to Government employees, as they are thinking nowadys government jobs are bhikari kam"

pay packages to compare with MNC/Private sector and demand to need sound payscale accordingly but efficience to produce output minimum eight hours is a question for sarkarari naukri pesha people. for examebe a teacher regional/central level taking salary accordingly sound but production is not matched i.e. a bihari lady school teacher staring class from 8 am instead of 6 am and off the class 10 am instead of 11 am or 12 noon. this is great lack of public damage and sarkari khazana. thank you. The steadyly increasing attrition now taking place from Government institutions to the the private sector, is not confined to the field of armed forces or scientific reserch. Many other professionaly qualified senior officers also are doing or considering the same. The remedy is to provide special allowance to all such officers. Moreover physical science is not the only field where reserch and development beneficial to the nation is conducted. For example economiic and financial reserch as well as reserch in the field of corporate law contributes much for the economic growth of the country. The well qualified, talented and experinced professionals now officiating in these areas are also much sought after by the private sector.
The actual remedy is to provide special compensation to such officers wherever the pre-requisite qualification for a post is a professional degree with experince.

“Bureaucrats opt for high-paying corporate jobs”
by Sudhi Ranjan Sen published in NDTV.com on June 13, 2007 (New Delhi):

The Sixth Pay Commission has triggered off an internal debate on the exodus of bureaucrats from the service.

The Commission has circulated a questionnaire amongst India's bureaucrats, asking whether their salaries should be brought on par with corporate pay packets.

The largesse, however, is directly linked with performance.

The prime minister may have asked corporates to do a rethink on paying fatter pay packets to senior executives but the 6th Pay Commission now wants to know whether government servants should be paid on par with the private sector.

In the last three years, at least 150 civil servants have left for high-paying corporate jobs. And the government finds it hard to get the talent it requires.

''There is a dearth of good people. It is not only pay. The government should provide an environment as good as the private sector. The whole system needs to be changed,'' said Veerappa Moily, Chairman, Administrative Reforms Committee.

    Struggling governance

In a questionnaire circulated among bureaucrats the Commission also wants to know whether:
    · A bureaucracy paid in parity with the private sector holds the key to honest and diligent governance
    · Can appointments of secretaries be made contractual, linking perks to performance
    · Should there be higher compensation package for scientists
    · Is there a need to redesign the pay-scales of all Group A services so as to attract better talent
    · And should benefits like bungalows and personal staff be done away with
While the Commission maybe trying to address the problem the R V Vadiyanatha Ayyar Committee Report on restructuring of training officers bluntly said: ''The IAS is no longer the first option for the youth of the creamy layer of the society. For them the lure of the greener corporate pastures, be they in India or the United States, has proved irresistible.''

The governance of the country is struggling to keep pace with the booming economy, mainly because the government cannot get the talent it needs.

A better pay package coupled with more accountability could provide some answers.

“Services losing it to corporates” by Sanjay Pinto published in NDTV.com on June 13, 2007( Chennai)
Many good students are now opting out of UPSC exams and several veteran officers have quit plum IAS and IPS jobs to join mega corporates.

Is it the money or job satisfaction or is it just the belief that government service means compromising on basic values that many bright students are shying away from the Civil Services.

Gowtham Raj had all it takes to be a successful IAS candidate. A brilliant academic record with an engineering degree he has the right family background, his father being in the IAS. He had a strong desire to serve as a cutting-edge officer.

However, Gowtham chose to walk away. Instead he wrote the CAT and cleared it in one shot, walked into IIM-Ahmedabad and is now a management professional in an IT company. So was it the mega bucks of the corporate world that tilted the balance?

''The perception is that the political structure is such that you will not be able to operate freely and opportunities are not necessarily based on performance,'' said Gowtham Raj, management professional.

Talented young men like Gowtham Raj are not far off the mark when they fear that the services will make them political puppets.

    Political bosses

Ask Vivek Harinarain, a 1980 batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. He was the high-profile IT Secretary during the Jayalalithaa regime.

But when he fell out with his political bosses he was sidelined and dumped in the State Salt Corporation. Hurt and disillusioned, he resigned and became an IT consultant.

''I left the Civil Services because honestly I found no reason to stay on. After 27 years of service, you know you still don't have a choice about what you are going to do tomorrow. There is absolutely no security of tenure because the choice is not yours,'' said Vivek Harinarain, ex-IAS officer.

''The choice of where you are posted is definitely with your political bosses to a very large extent. It is dependant on how you work and you don't work, but then the fact is that there is no fixation of your tenure and you are here today and gone tomorrow,'' he added.

Tamil Nadu has one of the most deeply politicised services in the country. With each regime change favourites are in and rival officers kicked out. And punishment postings and vindictive prosecution by political bosses is a regular feature.

    Financial insecurities

IPS officer MVN Suryaprasad had had enough of a job that offered many insecurities and little financial security. So while serving as the Police Commissioner of volatile Madurai he went on a study leave.

He topped the class at IIM-Ahmedabad and bagged one of the highest-paying job offers last year from the RPG Group.

''When we had joined the forces, the pay disparity between the public sector and the private sector was not that much, and the perquisites that were offered to the public sector had quite a good value,'' said MVN Suryaprasad, ex-Police Commissioner, Madurai.

''But now with the advent of communications technology the monetary value of those perquisites is dwindling and the corporate sector in its quest for good talent is paying the people what they are worth,'' he added.

Had Surya Prasad continued in the IPS he would have been an IG and his salary per month would have been Rs 60,000, including perks.

But now as the CEO of a corporate he is getting Rs 5 lakh every month. The money factor has been a big reason for the exodus of many honest babus from the services.

Because the salaries of even the highest officers who have served for decades is not a patch on what a fresh graduate from a B-School gets.

While the salary of Chief Secretary is Rs 30,000 per month and that of Director General of Police's Rs 26,000 per month, the starting salary of average B School graduate is Rs 80,000 per month.

The three-tier Civil Service Exam is long drawn, lasts a whole year and is extremely unpredictable. But those who value the versatility, prestige and the power it offers are the ones willing to rough it out every year.

There may be no drastic drop in that number of roughly two and a half lakh candidates every year. But the quality of students going down this road is a clear give away that the civil services is slowly losing its charm.

Read from the article “Students losing interest in Civil Services” by Deepak Kumar Mohanty published in News Track:
“The present generation thinks of their country as big and different but with a changed perspective. Students after completing school go for their technical education just because they find more opportunity to earn money with a luxurious life. Again we all know that an officer in IAS/IPS cadre hold much respect and power but less money”

I am not sure of how much increase in salaries of government employees is SPC going to recommend, but I am dead sure that pay commission and the Finance Minister are definitely going to make working conditions for Government employees just equivalent to slaves or bonded labourers.

The economy of the country is booming and India is moving forward very fast to become a super power. The government machinery has to create an atmosphere conducive to this. Special, very attractive and at par with the best in private sector, package is needed for the officers of concerned regulators, departments and ministries. Officers of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, SEBI, and Department of Foreign Trade should be given the best pay and perks. Otherwise the jobs would not attract talented youths, and the economic growth of the country would be adversely affected as a result of that. At present many of the officers of such departments/ regulators are considering quitting. Take the example of M/O. Corporate Affairs. The officers of that ministry are appointed from a cadre called ‘Indian Company Law Service’ (ICLS). The pre requisite qualification for applying foe selection to ICLS is to be a CA, CS, Cost Accountant or Advocate with specified years of experience in company law matters. Many of the presently serving officers are having more than two of the required professional qualifications. In the present scenario where they get huge pay outside how many experienced professionals would opt to apply, for the cadre, which offers a pittance as salary.

on average, one jawan is committing suicide or shooting his senior for the reasons known to everybody. In this way,by the time pay commission report implemented,a number of jawans/officials either would leave the army/defence or committed suicide and again there will be further shortage in future. Yet our Govt. is waiting for the report which is very far away, Neither thereis any commitment nor any hopes/assurance is given. Our dear FM is more interested in GDP growth instead of human growth.

    ReplyDelete
  15. when people speak of shortage in the armed forces thay r not taking into consideration numerous adhoc posts created due to the increase in the role. these vacancies r filled up by pulling out officr\ers already authorised to fighting forces (include Counter Insurgency Operations). so in true effect the deficiencies would be much greater.

now how do these deficiencies affect fratricide or suicides?

with adequate officers a unit can make sure each jawan is spoken to or looked up at least once in a day or two. with the shortage, invariably the officers are short in time to meet them as well as do the tasks. so the priliminary symptoms of a malaise get overlooked.

at times people in the corporate world, or the civil services ask, well even we look after much greater population & area!

well we know how the country is being run. looking at india makes u believe in god. whereas there u have to make a man walk into fire with a 90% certainity that he will be hit, & that too willingly.

more than the pay, give them respect, if a soldier comes in front of u, don't start telling him rules, make a sincere effort in solving his problems. don't treat ur own army as an occupational army. even USA treats their army better, despite better development.

    rest next time

  16. You are talking about the uncertainities of the sixth pay commission but can you believe that the army officers have been cheated of their Rank Pay, given to them by the 4th pay commission in 1986, by the manipulating babus? The case is in the apex court now! And also, there is another case about restoring the commuted vlaue of pension. When the orders are there for restoring the commuted pension after 12 years, it is still being commuted only after 15 years! Incidently the commuting itself is only for 12 years!

    Gopalan,

It is really damage to indian economy if pay increases to Officers of Armed Forces. They are having good pay structures and good allowances. Colonels are only concentrating on the pay structures of BPO employees. These colonels are having two to three soldiers for gardening, taking care of pets and cooking in their houses including all their houseworks. They are having free medical facilities for their whole life. They even have post service benifits like ex-service man, re-employment. While in service, they have maruti gypsy for marketting for their wives and pets alongwith their riffle men. Free ration. The question is here, After 1977 is there any war to fight? Kargil war is just simply a conflit for which, BSF and Border Roads also joined for the simple conflit. How we can give more pay benifits to the Officers of Armed Forces? While joining they are clear that premeture retirement is not possible. They why they are allowed for such untime retirements? Are they for only pay not for country? Persons of high calibre are not fit for Armed forces because they may not obey orders. Pers who obey orders straightly are only fit for Armed Forces (OLQs). If the High Post Officer show moon in mid noon, Junior has to obey for which only they get promotions. Accurecy in warpractices are not justified by any civilians experts (especially unemployeed educated persons) they how can their pay can be increased? There may be fake exercises ( which may come after some years, like fake courtmartials). Persons daily giving lives for the country from Forces of BSF, CRPF, Border Roads ..etc (not CISF & RPF because they are not policing at borders or not entrusted with countruction works in dead end of borders)may not be given post and inservice benifits though they negociate terrorism daily.

Dear Gentleman (posted comment on 10.28 PM)

I am glad to get reply from you sir, I am very much aware of all things. You are not getting the difference of hardship between officers of infantry and lazy corps. There are some officers in Engineer Corps who are getting ERE postings consequently where no definition of weapon. How we can recommend these officers to pay more for their services. They are also having several benifits like study leave .. etc. Concept of paying more pay to infantry, BSF, ITBP ..etc is acceptable but not to lazy staff. As people are not aware of the hidden points due to its concealed conditions. However, weapon allowances is necessary to introduce. Then only officers try to combat. Officers of AMC are really heroes who command on patients like any thing that too without weapons and hardship. How these all to the paid?. Govt. Policies are to be changed to get firm bond system so that these officers can't leave before their retirement. Recruitment process is also to be changed. Any way I will speak to you sir. Please take in right sprit.

If govt of india is not able to provide even basic facilies for their soldiers, man and saliors... defence system will suffer. Govt has to decide first ..weather india needs a good fauj or a mob of dead hearts. Govt has to consider this fact that that uuntil and unless the basic needs like living enviornment and enough salaries are not not provided to their men inuniform.....sorry...the defence system is just a mob of JARURATMAND AND MAJBOOR people. The smart and capable men and officers are leaving the job...why because neither they are allowed to use their talent nor they are given enough to live even a normal life......so govn must workout seriously on this issue.

Besides job satisfaction, IZZAT has been main stay of inspiration for those who are serving in Armed Forces. Fourth pay commission understood logic of demand of forces for running band of pay scale. Not comparing services with MNCs, as done by most of commentators here, please search for reason why it was scraped by V Pay Commission. Neither cylindrical movement of promotion has changed nor job profile. Every one talks of hardship and lip service for our soldiers but when it comes to paying compansation it is linked to Babus sitting in offices. Officer Cadre is worst affected. Please compare movement of promotion for officers. All class one services in India are better than Armed Forces. Today Colonel in Army is promoted after 20 years service, Brigadier after 28 years,Major General after 32 years, Lt Gen after 38 years. Please search any Govt service which lacks behind it. I am not even comparing IAS?IPS but any allie services even. No money no IZZAT in society.
Ther was a time when Rajas and Maharajas used to look after their Armed Forces, similarly, expectation was there that Government shall look after the soldiers without asking but times have changed. No voting influence so no perks.
Government has gone further to fight in court for wrong they have done in IV Pay Commission about officers rank pay not been given in addtition to pay as ruled by Kerala High Court.
Please tell whats the incentive is there for good officers to stay and not seek employment outside.
Its not only MNC's salary but condition of services, lack of Govt concern, poor promotion avenues, stagnated pay scales and above all decreasing IZZAT in society.

In my opinion, Armed Forces Services are still the best in the country in the category of Officers, Officers who are leaving the army not due to less perks and emoluments instead they are leaving due to inbuilt corruption at higher level. If the assets of any officer valued since they were enrolled, they would be having much more than their actual earnings. Army officers have forgetten when only 50% DA was applicable to them and now in the present time they are being paid 100% DA as compared to others besides so many facilities like Ration, Accommodation, Vehicle, Ordarlies and many more. In my opinion an officer of the army costs more than Rs. 1,50,000/- p.m. If they are really worried about their salary at least they must put a cut into their lavish life and they should save for the country by putting a cut at least on petrol and services of an ordarlies. Every officer in the army is having more than 2 ordarlies and which cost Govt more than Rs. 25,000/- p.m. and they should also put a cut on heavy commission on Government Tender for Army, which is in some cases upto 40%. A rule "ELECTRICITY SAVED ELECTRICITY GENERATED" will also apply here. So save from existing budget and get benefitted as the Defence Budget of the country is already at the peak. In the end I just want to say that there are many patriot in the country who are in the que for getting enrolment in the army but they also not getting opportunity due to hidden corruption, which can not be seen from outside. It can only be experienced when u serve the Army.

DEFICIENCY OF OFFICERS IN THE ARMY : FOOD FOR THOUGHT

    1. I've been reading a lot in the papers and watching a number of shows on the TV on the subject of deficiency of Army officers .I wish to bring out a couple of major reasons for the officers willing to quit army and for the younger generation no more being interested in joining the Armed forces. These reasons have not been discussed anywhere.

    2. Today army is running short of 13000 officers apprx and there are some 2000 applications for release pending at various levels . Some are waiting to see the outcome of the Sixth pay commission .This existing deficiency if translated on ground turns out to be 40 -50 % less no of officers posted in any unit compared to their authorization. So much deficiency, the unwillingness of a couple of thousand officers and the lack of interest in the younger generation to join has raised questions and the media is playing a vital role in bringing out the reasons for this. I've seen media is always concentrated on the promotion aspect of officers .which has been addressed to by the authorities. Till 13 yrs of service everyone is picking up promotions so no one is complaining in that bracket. The senior officers of course have a slow future, but the deficiency is in the younger lot of officers who are the executive force in the army .We need to understand their mindset .I shall try and focus on this younger generation of officers

    3. Everyone of us know about the great wars fought by the Indian army in the past, recent one being the Kargil war and the role played by the young officers in winning these wars. The officers are leaders and they have to be every where to lead and guide and when there is a shortage the burden is shared by the present number of officers. The officers have to work extra or say overtime, not penning the intricacies but I surely believe the way we have won the past wars and the way the army is fighting the terrorism in J&K and North east they are doing a commendable job . If we just try and compare it with any PSU / multinational /any central govt dept /any ministry where nothing moves without the officers directions then one can realize how the Army is managing the show with such a huge shortage of officers .It is to be seen that on an average one officer is working for two and that too not just in an air-condition office but in hard field conditions and in peace stations where there are so many administrative commitments beside the normal functions of army.

    4. Now I would like to mention a couple of reasons beside the reasons already known to us for the shortage :

    a. The younger generation is very much fascinated by the defense services but they are no more interested in joining them. The question arises Why?

    b. The serving officers in all service brackets especially 5 -15 yrs service bracket want to quit if given a free go. The question again Why ?

    5. The answer lies in the social and economic development in our country. The way we are growing and developing is nothing to be emphasized here. The young graduates and post graduates want to pursue a professional degree and want to join any multinational or the civil service but not the armed forces because of the simple reason that either they want that 7 digit pay package or the power in the civil services and obviously the Comfortable life with their families.

    6. The Serving Officers whenever get to meet their counterparts or school friends always compare their socio- economic status with them and feel the pinch and further realize that they are no where near them on either the economic or the power platform. Beside the harsh and separated life they live during their service. Hence they wish if they could leave and join the civil society and over that they see those who have left are much more happier than when they were in uniform . The corporate world also is also on the lookout to catch Army officers to join their organization at various levels for their dedication honesty and management skills .

    7. The Army cannot afford to lower its standards for selection of candidates for officer cadre just to fill up the vacancies and the young graduates strive to join the multinationals for their own good reasons . Hence this deficiency of officers will take a long long time to be reduced. The Armed forces will have to think beyond the promotion aspect to make the younger generation join the forces and the serving officers not to quit. If they’ve decided to leave then we have it as a good saying goes ‘’In the army one who loses the will is as good as dead “.

    8. Coming back to my previous point of officers working extra just to amplify the cause I want to ask the responsible ministries and all those concerned with this subject that why are the serving officers who are working extra for their non existent colleagues, not being paid extra in terms of say an allowance as they are paid to serve in J&K or in harsh climatic conditions like the Siachen glacier. If calculated on an average pay of a young captain as rs 20000/- per month, the state is saving upon 20000 x 13000(deficient officers) x 12 months =2880000000 rs ie to say apprx 300 crores of rupees annually. This amount of money can be easily distributed to officers as an allowance till the time the deficiency is not filled up.

    9. If we have to work extra for our colleague for a day or a week we feel pinched but Army officers are working since so many years like this and are paid normal salaries is injustice At least I am of this opinion . The Sixth pay commission is a routine affair and will do its bit in giving a rise to the pay scales but we need to harp upon the fact of paying them for the extra responsibility they are bearing .The Army from the first day imbibes in its cadres not to speak against the govt policies. They cannot go on strikes or they don’t have a union to fight for this, nobody in the senior cadre wants to bell the cat and this point has never been raised in any of the forums . Even the Sixth pay commission would not have considered this aspect .The Army man is simple and obedient but he knows everything .Those who realized this want to leave and those who already know about it don’t want to join . Today even the sons of Senior Army officers are not willing to join their father’s profession for the same reasons .

    10. Just to sum up the whole issue ,to serve the nation is the feeling within an army officer but what is the nations feeling for the officer , is to extract double or triple output without paying him? The army officers are also humans with similar desires and needs like all of us .They should not feel punished for joining the nations defence services . People should be eager to serve with the army and it is on the Govt and the policy makers to create an environment which makes them feel comfortable and make them forget the hardships they suffer during their service period

Is it not the violation of the fundamental rights of the family of the people of the armed forces if he is not able to bear the expenses due to his meager pay, of imparting quality education to his children in the best schools of the town.Is it not violation of his right to seek a better life than what is offered now.Why cant he have a double income family, in spite of many of them having spouses with professional qualifications, his wife not be offered an opportunity to exploit her potential just because her husband is posted at such place from where the nearest town is minimum 30 to 40 kms. where are the human rights people now?????????????? making a person to forcefully serve in the forces by not letting off those desirous of leaving the service is a gross violation of their fundamental rights.

    hi all,
this entire thread has been very very interesting.
On one hand army is talking about shortage of officers but on the other hand it is encouraging competent officers to leave the army. i will explain how.
Officers who sustain medical injury/ ailment due to service or non service conditions are termed as Low Medical Category (LMC) officers. LMC officers may be capable of performing all duties despite the handicap, but a new policy letter issued by the army says that they cannot be promoted beyond the rank of Colonel. The first dichotomy is that when at junior ranks (Lieutenant to LT Colonel), an officer can be promoted and employed in more harsh conditions (junior implies more in contact with the soldiers and more demands on physical fitness), how is he found physically incapable of performing duties at higher ranks when physical fitness demands are certainly less than at junior levels! Brigadier and Generals are only in Headquarters while Lt Colonels and below are at actual working level!
So even if an officer is very competent (even has done the competitive courses like Staff College, Higher Command course etc) he has no choice but to thimk of Premature retirement since he is virtually superceded without actually being so.
Of course the other side is that those who want to leave army but army wont leave them, they can become LMC by design and help of doctors and huck the army!!
This policy change is also i suppose a nefarious design to help few incompetent officers to make it to higher ranks at the cost of few good LMC officers.
    any taakers for this?

I am a Lt Col and M Tech in Structural Engg. I am sans clerk in my office and have only one Draughtsman under my command. My wife sees scores of helpers downstairs and abuses me at least ten times a day for being studious, intelligent, hard working and a dedicated soldier and putting effort to do M Tech in this subject.I do not even have a dog, what to talk of helper and will retire as a Lt Col because out of 90 officers those commented in my ACRs over last 22 years, one felt that I should not be promoted because by one of my acts I stopped him from getting extra money only once. He retired as a Chief Engineer.
I am being posted to the organisation which I dislike, time and again. I am physically fit at 47 where as so many sick officers have commanded units with troops.
At least three of my previous bosses have been court martialled and they do not even call me to tastify as they know that there troubles will further increase.
Why should not I be compensated by pay commission?
It is food for thought for anonymous.

    Dear friend (posted comment 10:28)
    Well said !!
This guy Gopalan (posted comment on 9:30 am & 8:49pm) seems to be from one of frustrated defense employee or a defense civilian as he is “very much aware of all things”.

Gopalan !! that’s for what we are in defense forces and are seen class apart from civilians. u noticed colonel having two to three soldiers for gardening, taking care of pets and cooking in their houses but was not even born when this colonel was taking charge of his battalion. U were not even in liquid form when these colonels were in uniform.

Everyday when I leave my home I don’t know whether I will be able to come back or not. But I am thankful to my seniors who have trained me well to tackle death everyday and that’s has happened by following their orders, word by word. Defense is like that only and because of this only it has and conti to safe guard the nation. The day juniors will stop obeying seniors in defense….our community will look like CROWS FIGHTING IN LOK SABHA / RAJYA SABHA.

why they not announced the recommendation about the VIth pay commission all defence person espicially in the ARMY whose service is near about 15 yrs or less are awaiting for the commission recommendation and finally dicide to leave or serve his service. I am also a serving in the Army and i want to leave from service because the sallary of a soldier is not more than a monthly income of "Chay banane wala" so why i am performing a duty of a soldier and far from my house.

I will surely agree it is against human rights to forcefully ask a person to stay in the forces when he feels he doesnt belong there whatsoever be the reasons. What do you say of shortage when you cannot handle people already there in a proper manner..its time the forces need to change..pay is only a part of the criteria, there are many other issues too which should be looked upon. What do you achieve by holding a frustrated person?he will further damage the image...Well my advise for future generations is look before you leap.Dont be trapped by the glamorous advertisements "do you have it in you".Then you will be had nicely.make the system more free.allow people to leave.only then more people will join.make serving more enjoyable and stress free.Iam sure no body will quit.leave the frustrated ones and take fresh motivated ones.hope somebody hear.

Most talked 6 pay commission is expected to deliver a budget cusion for next 5-6 years. The most talked about topic attretion rate is not only prevail in officers cader, its also much in the (PBOR)Personnel below offciers rank. There are PBOR in Air Force who are apply for discharge at 14 + years of service ignoring the Pension they can enjoy just after a year.Indian air force has put much restriction for leaving the service (Both for Officers and PBORs).If any media dare, get the quantity of people willing to go out of service in PBOR cadre.Since most of the media focus on officers, PBORs (airforce) willing to go out of service is ignored or not highlighted. With the pathetic living conditions, which are far below from the Airforces/Army/navy with whom we carryout joint exercises, PBOR required to be taken care.

A bad Pay commision would lead to more frustrations in the defence forces....

it a matter of shame for all the politicians as they simply increse their salaries by just passing a bill in parliament for which no one opposes. and for the army personal who r fighting and saving and serving in war and peace, natural calamity and many other times they r getting "just to live" ammount. our IAS,IPS must also think whether they are justifying with their salary and facilities or not. whole the year they are just busy with stupid ceremonies and nothing else. Our President is getting 1.5 lacs per month. ???? for what??? just for being a robot of a stupid and third class politics and its leaders like sonia. our PM is also same. for what they are doing job for nation or the sonia gandhi, who even dont know why the name of country in BHARAT.

It is a good for army that they must leave this system as there is no one to listen them in this country or they must make some revolution.

we r with our army heroes not with stupid leaders and parties.
